Happiness Squared, The History of RITTER SPORT, 1912 - 1930

DESCRIPTION
Visit the origins of the legendary RITTER SPORT Chocolate, where Happily Every After became Happiness Squared. In 1912 confectioner Alfred Eugen Ritter married Clara Göttle, sparking a chain of events that led to the creation of RITTER SPORT Chocolate. Here, in the first episode of The History of RITTER SPORT, take a trip back in time to the early 1900's in Bad Cannstatt, Germany and watch as the love of Alfred and Clara Ritter blossoms into their first brand, Al Rika, and takes the small family business to new heights.
In our next episode, Clara's Square Idea, Clara Ritter revolutionizes the confectionary industry by breaking the rectangular mold!

While watching fans walk to a soccer game with their long, delicate chocolate bars, she noticed the rectangular bars often broke in the pockets of men's sport coats due to their thinness.

Clara strived to create a chocolate bar for her most active customers, one that would contain the same amount of chocolate but could be carried without easily breaking.

Soon, RITTER SPORT was born: A thick, square bar that could accompany people anywhere.
