In 1932 Clara Ritter dared to be square! While watching fans walk to a soccer game with
their long, delicate chocolate bars, she noticed the rectangular bars often broke in the
pockets of men's sport jackets due to their shape. Clara strived to create a chocolate bar
for her most active customers, one that would contain the same amount of chocolate but
could be easily carried without any fear of it breaking. Soon, Ritter Sport was born:
A thick, square bar that could accompany people anywhere. Ritter Sport quickly became a
hit and today, Clara's ingenious idea is still high quality chocolate for people with an active lifestyle.
Ritter began in 1912 when Alfred and Clara Ritter opened a candy and confectionary company
in Bad Cannstatt, Germany. Over the past century, the Ritter family's dedication to producing
chocolate from the finest ingredients made Ritter Sport an international success. Today,
Ritter Sport remains family-owned and is committed to unparalleled taste, quality ingredients,
its customers and its employees.
